Monkey around at zoo

Everyone enjoys the holiday season, especially the primates at America’s Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College. The staff and students invite the public to the special holiday weekend, Presents for Primates, on Sat. and Sun., Dec. 16 and 17.

The zoo will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a show every hour from noon to 3 p.m. and a large carnivore feeding at 3:30 p.m.

This weekend, guests and children will have an opportunity to make behavioral enrichment (presents) for the primates between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and watch as the animals enjoy their gifts. The zoo will provide the presents and materials needed.

Children’s activities and demonstrations will be offered throughout the weekend, and guests may meet the animal trainers.

Admission is $4 for children and seniors and $5 for adults.

America’s Teaching Zoo, maintained and operated by the staff and students of the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program at Moorpark College, is a nonprofit facility dedicated to education. All proceeds go directly to zoo operations. Donations are tax deductible.
