American Legion Auxiliary donates blankets

COZY FOR THE HOLIDAYS—Moorpark High School students join with American Legion Auxiliary Unit 502 to give fleece throws to veterans. At a local hospital delivering the blankets are, from left, Alena Campagna, Nina Nguyen, patient Gilbert Vargas, Jenna Nguyen, and Lace Granatelli.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 502 recently collected more than 1,100 throws and blankets from residents in Ojai, Ventura, Oxnard, Simi, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Agoura Hills and Moorpark.

The Moorpark High School Health and Science Academy students, two teachers, and post and auxiliary members delivered the blankets to the Veterans Hospital in West Los Angeles. Throws were given to the veterans on all six floors, outpatient, in the lobbies and the parking lot, and also to veterans in buildings 213 and 215.

The veterans were grateful and appreciative of the gift. Many said they were very happy to see the auxiliary do this project and especially to see the students’ participation. The auxiliary also distributed

blankets and throws to all the veterans at the Sepulveda day care, nursing home and Hospice units. They, too, said how wonderful it was to see the interest and welcomed the gifts.

The auxiliary thanks the many residents who contributed to this project.
