What questions would you ask in our Soundoff?

In today's issue, we enthusiastically reintroduce Acorn Soundoff on page 9. From the publisher and editor's perspective, it was a favorite feature of the Moorpark Acorn in years past.

You're probably asking, "If it was so popular, Big Shot, why did it die?" Good question. And by the way, neither the publisher nor the editor considers himself a Big Shot.

Part of the problem was that we eventually ran out of good questions. We found ourselves asking some pretty dumb ones, like, "What kinds of pudding do you like and why?" or "What dip will you be serving at your Super Bowl party?" Too many women were answering "My husband" to that last one.

To be honest, it wasn't always easy to come up with a good question.

That's why we're asking for your help. A good question should be simple and not take more than a few seconds to answer. It also should be open-ended and require more than a yes or no. And you shouldn't need a PhD to answer it.

If you think of an incredible question or even one that's just slightly above average, give us a call at (805) 367-8232 or send an e-mail to moorpark@theacorn.com.

We won't reveal your identity, and you can make us look good.

We love it, too, when people send us letters. So if you want to respond to today's Soundoff question, send your comments to the address below or to moorpark@theacorn.com. Remember that we need your name, street address and phone number, although only your name and city will be printed.

So if you're out and about and a pleasant person comes up to you and says, "Hi, I'm with the Moorpark Acorn. Would you like to answer our question of the day?" please consider it. Find out what the question is, then decide if you want to respond and take a few seconds to have your picture taken.

We promise not to ask how old you are.
