Local dance academy has the moves

Paiva Dance Academy will open Mon., Feb. 5 at 2636 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks, with classes in all dance styles for children and adults.

Studio director and owner Orlando Paiva Jr. is an Argentine tango dancer. Born and raised in Rosario, Argentina, he is the son of Orlando Paiva, who has taught actors Robert Duvall, Madonna, Sean Penn and others.

Paiva Jr. has taught and performed in Buenos Aires, Europe and the US. He founded the Brujo Tango Congress in Reno, Nev.

Teachers at the academy are trained professionals. Classes will include Argentine tango, ballet, ballroom, jazz, hip-hop, West and East Coast swing, and salsa.
