City bus schedule not user-friendly We have lived in Moorpark our whole lives and take the city bus transit. We take the bus nearly daily and have some concerns. We are not yet of age to drive from place to place, and with our parents being so busy with their constantly changing lives we, in a way, rely on the Moorpark city bus transit as our transportation. One thing that would greatly improve the city buses overall is the extent of running time. It has come to our attention that the city bus only runs until about 5:30 p.m. Many residents and students here in Moorpark are in need of later pickup times due to sports, after school activities and work. For instance, some students run track and field and are not released until around 6 p.m., and by that time the buses have ended their daily routes. It would be greatly appreciated if the time could be extended to about 7 or 8 p.m. Another concern is that the city bus transit does not run on weekends. This is a crucial time that most are in need of transport. The residents need to get to town for grocery shopping, the park for weekend sports practice or a trip to a friend's house to study for that weekly test on Monday. The city bus transit, we feel, is a great benefit to us as teenagers and our coming of age and maturity, and it helps to build our independence. Not only would you be benefiting our lives but the lives of the people around us that, without these improvements, would have to struggle with their busy schedules to pick us up. We hope that our requests are greatly considered among the Moorpark City Council. Brittany Stuckey Emma Oeland Moorpark |
