City tearing down too many trees

I see on page 8 of the March 2 Moorpark Acorn that the city of Moorpark will be planting trees on Arbor Day, March 10. I'd like to ask Roger Blais, Moorpark's landscape manager, when the city will be replacing all of the beautiful trees that used to line Westwood Street in Moorpark.

They also just recently tore down the trees around the preschool at Amherst and Princeton without replacing them. They could have very easily replaced them with the cottonwood trees that line neighboring streets and do not have large roots to undermine the sidewalk.

Why does Moorpark throw out this facade of Arbor Day when they actually are working toward the de-greening of Moorpark? Michael Butler Moorpark
