Chabad to welcome new Torah scroll

A new Torah scroll will be completed at the Chabad of Simi Valley at 4 p.m. Sun., May 6 at the Chabad Center, 4464 Alamo St., Simi Valley. The public is invited.

Participants in the celebration will help scribe Rabbi Aarron Shaffier, who grew up in Simi Valley, to complete the final letters of the scroll.

The event will include live music and dancing, special

children's activities and a

free buffet dinner.

cred objects, has about 54 pieces of parchment with about 600,000 letters handwritten with a feather and special ink. More than a year is required to complete one scroll.
