Moorpark Rotary presents celebrity golf tourne
This event features a Hollywood celebrity or national sports figure in each foursome. The tournament will kick off with registration at 9:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. A barbecue luncheon will be available during play. A banquet dinner and live auction will start when the round is completed. "Our tournament committee is dedicated to making this a fantastic, fun event with lots of excitement on the course, a quick dinner, a huge raffle drawing and a tightly executed silent and live auction. We appreciate everyone's busy schedules and plan to complete our dinner and auction activities in record time," said Lyle Pennington of Moorpark Rotary, the golf tournament's chairman. Golfers may participate in the pin up golf games that feature chipping and putting contests, guess your distance and "on the green" game for special prizes. Two hole-in-one vehicles and a special Eagle hole will be offered. The tournament features a scramble format with first-, second- and third-place awards for winning foursomes, plus a special prize for the winning Rotary team, which must have a minimum of two Rotarians to qualify. Sponsorships are still available from $500 to $2,500, as well as tee signs for $125. Donations of auction and raffle items are also requested. Golfer entry fee is $200 and includes a goody bag, luncheon and beverages on the course, tournament, banquet, auction and raffle. "Most importantly, this event raises money to support youth sports and activities in our community, " said Pennington. Rotary Club funds will go to support the Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark and other Moorpark youth charities. Moorpark Packer funds will go to support their youth football program, especially the "no child left behind" scholarship fund. This tournament sold out last year. Registration deadline is May 25.
