Catholics to gather and say rosary in Pasadena

The public is invited to attend the Rosary Bowl: A World at Prayer is a World at Peace from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Sat., May 19 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

This is the largest outdoor recitation of the rosary in Southern California in 50 years.

The event is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Holy Cross Family Ministries.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. The service will include praise and worship, special music, a 200voice choir, banner and Eucharistic processions, adoration, prayer of the rosary and the glorious mysteries, homily by Cardinal Roger Mahony and benediction.

Keynote speakers are Immaculée Ilibagiza, Rwanda genocide survivor and author of "Left to Tell"; Bishop Oscar Solis, vicar for ethnic ministries, Archdiocese of Los Angeles;

and Carl A. Anderson,

Christ"), Eduardo Verástegui ("Bella"), Miss Mexico 2000 Jacky Bracamontes, and TV news reporter Stan Chambers.

Admission is free, but tickets are required. Tickets may be obtained from a parish, on the website listed below and at the door on a first come, first served basis. A freewill collection will be taken at the event. Rose Bowl parking is $15 per car and $40 for buses.
