+The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of the Conejo Recreation and Park District is recruiting men and women ages 55 and up to volunteer for a wide variety of local nonprofit agencies. Also, bingo callers are needed from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at the Goebel Senior Adult Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. For information, call (805) 381-2742 or drop in at the center. +Meals on Wheels for Westlake Village/Agoura needs drivers to assist for one hour once a week in delivering meals to residents that are temporarily or permanently homebound. Substitute drivers may serve on an a less frequent schedule. Volunteer drivers representing Meals on Wheels deliver a hot midday meal and a cold evening meal to qualified recipients in Agoura, Oak Park and Westlake Village. The meals are delivered from the East Campus of the Los Robles Medical Center between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for major holidays. For more information or to sign up, call Jane at (805) 370-4295. +The Valley Trauma Center at 8700 Reseda Blvd., Northridge, is seeking men and women for the following positions: Counselor trainees/interns provide therapy to survivors of sexual violence and their friends/ families and do inhome counseling with families who are at risk of having their children detained by the Department of Children and Family Services. Rape Crisis Advocates respond to calls on a 24-hour hotline and provide crisis counseling and onsite emotional support at local hospitals, police stations and courts to survivors. Adoption Mentors with personal adoption or foster care experience help adoptive parents and children address issues related to adoption. Buddy for Me mentors work with underprivileged and at-risk children and teens. Prevention Education Advocates provide educational presentations to the community. Community Service volunteers assist with special events, fundraising and office support. The center will offer a 60hour training for prospective volunteers starting July 20.
