Sheriff's Blotter Thieves removed items from the Kohl's store in the 800 block of Los Angeles Avenue on June 8. A window was broken by an unspecified object in the 15300 block of Braun Court on June 8. A business in the 400 block of Los Angeles Avenue was the scene of a commercial burglary on June 7. A car door was kicked in on June 7 in the 600 block of Spring Road. Vandals painted graffiti sometime between June 3 and June 4 on the greenbelt area of homes located near the intersection of Laurelhurst and Rolling Knoll Roads. A thief stole merchandise from the Vons Market in the 4200 block of Tierra Rejada Road on June 6. Homes currently under construction in the Shadow Hills development were burglarized sometime between June 5 and June 6. Over $2,000 in property was stolen. A thief stole items from Chick's Sporting Goods in the 700 block of Los Angeles Avenue some time between June 5 and June 6. Both a wall and a car were struck with graffiti at the Moorpark RV Storage lot in the 4800 block of Spring Street on June 3. Vons Market in the 4200 block of Tierra Rejada Road was the scene of a shoplifting incident on June 2. An intoxicated man visiting at a community pool at the intersection of Pheasant Run and Sleepy Wind Streets on June 10 was arrested for public drunkenness and possession of a gravity knife. A man was arrested in the 400 block of Sherman Avenue on June 9 for selling counterfeit DVD movies on the street. The man also had no permit to sell items within the city. In response to a call reporting narcotic activity in the 15700 block of Los Angeles Avenue on June 8, deputies encountered two men under the influence of illegal drugs and placed them under arrest. Responding to a call on June 6 of a fight in progress in the 13000 block of Rancho Vista Drive, deputies encountered a woman known to be on parole. A search revealed she was concealing a glass smoking pipe. The woman also displayed symptoms of being under the influence of illegal drugs. A search of her purse revealed several loose prescription pills for which she had no prescription. She was then taken into custody. At the same time a man at the same location was arrested for being under the influence of illegal drugs. A school bus driver was stopped on June 6 at an unspecified location by deputies. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, stated she had no driver's license, though she told the deputies she had been working in the United States for the past three years. The woman was sited and released, and the bus was towed away. Thieves were stopped in their car on June 6 at an unspecified location in Moorpark after shoplifting items from the Vons Market in the 4200 block of Tierra Rejada Road. The driver, who had no license, admitted that he knew the items were stolen. He was taken to the county jail. A man living on the 200 block of Sierre Avenue was cited on June 6 for being under the influence of illegal drugs. During an arrest made on June 5 in the 500 block of Spring Road, a man was identified as a thief involved in a recent shoplifting at Chick's Sporting Goods. Deputies also identified the man to be under the influence of a controlled substance. During a call for service on June 4, deputies found two men on Moorpark Avenue, just north of High Street. In searching the car, deputies found a syringe containing a clear liquid substance, believed to be cocaine or methamphetamine. Further search revealed 38 hypodermic needles hidden in the trunk of the car. Both men were taken into custody. During the investigation of a traffic collision in the 5300 block of Commerce Avenue on June 4, the driver of the car was determined to be under the influence of depressants and the man was arrested. A man living in the 100 block of Everett Street was confronted by deputies during a call for service on May 31. The man was showing signs of being under the influence of illegal drugs and was arrested. |
