Chabad Simi has programs for adults, children Chabad Simi presents the following events for June and July at the Chabad Jewish Center, 4464 Alamo St., Simi Valley. The guest speaker, Sara Latowicz, will discuss "Feminism and Judaism." The event will include yoga and relaxation workshop, musical interlude, gourmet buffet lunch and surprise gifts. +The inaugural Read-a-Thon for children will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tues., June 26. This Jewish literacy program is sponsored by the Zeev Cohen Lending Library and includes story time, crafts and refreshments. +A three-week summer program for children begins Mon., July 2 and includes swimming, sports, field trips, drama, crafts, challah baking, Shabbat celebrations, gardening, tennis, baking and ceramics. Kiddie Kamp is for ages 3 to 5 and offers half-day options. Camp Gan Israel is for grades K through 6 and runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. +Lunch-n-Learn takes place from noon to 1 p.m. on six Wednesdays, June 27 through Aug. 1. This textual study group will examine "Ethics of our Fathers," a Jewish take on ethics. Lunch from Unique Pastry & Café will be provided. A fee of $75 includes lunch. +The Community Health Outreach Series presents Part I, "The Skinny on Eating Disorders," 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tues., July 10. Admission is free. This lecture will examine the diagnosis and treatment of adults and adolescents with eating disorders.
+Chabad will celebrate Shabbat Under the Stars at 7:30 p.m. Fri., July 27 in the center's outdoor garden. A full-course Shabbat dinner follows at 8:30 p.m. with challah, gefilte fish, matzah ball soup, kugel and more. Cost for the meal is $15 for adults, $9 for child, $45 for family and $150 for sponsor. |
