Resident grateful for DARE program Thanks to the generosity of the City Council, DARE will continue next year. We will also be having an SRO officer full time at the high school. This is on a yeartoyear basis, so we can celebrate now thanks to the hard work of some people who were willing to lend their voices in support to the program. Because of generous support from the city, they are once again "footing the bill" for DARE as well as the remainder of the cost for an officer at the high school. I am so proud and honored that our city is served by our mayor, who fought to keep this program, as well as the city council members that were willing to take another look and see what the people wanted. We changed a few minds, as well as were challenged to make sure DARE is the most effective program that our district can use. Most people reading this know how we feel about DARE- look at the enthusiasm for the program. Thanks to all the people who were willing to show up at the meeting and speak from their hearts. Thanks to the wonderful children who spoke with great enthusiasm. Next year it is up for debate again, so I hope there is a better turn out at the meeting and look forward to working with all of you again.
Thanks, Mayor Hunter. Thanks to all the city council once again for hearing our voices. |
