Fire damages local home

A Moorpark residence became uninhabitable due to smoke damage caused by a kitchen fire last week. The blaze apparently started on the stove top, said Capt. Barry Parker, spokesperson for the Ventura County Fire Department. No one was home when the incident occurred at about 9:25 a.m. at a house in the 14000 block of Hartford Street. The fire was quickly extinguished but had already caused major smoke damage, making the home unsafe to live in, authorities said.
