Winners announced in senior photo contest

The Moorpark Active Adult Center has named the winners of the senior photography contest.

Nature/Landscape: first place, "Carson Peak, Sierra Nevada" by Donna Gollihugh; second place, "Walk in the Woods" by Aggie Dachtler; and third place, "Dragonfly" by Sandra Day.

Animals/Pets: first place, "Aristo-cat" by Tom Gollihugh; second place, "Lazy Daze" by Pete Valentino; and third place, "Sunset in the Park" by Helen Ignacio.

Around the World: first place tie: "Shangra-La, China" by Florence Wettig and "Amalfi Coast, Italy" by Anna Bellasario; second place, "Baurdee Napoli, Greece" by Lill Herr; and third place, "Saquari" by Tom Maxwell.

Candid Kids: first place, "Mr. Sandman, Send Me a Dream" by Helen Ignacio; second place, "Read It Again" by Aggie Dachtler; and third place, "Cool" by Sherry McBride.

Moorpark Moments: first place, "Bearded Dragon" by Pat McLean; second place, "Ho- Ho- Ho and It's a Pirate's Life for Me" by Fred Markle; and third place, "Whoa!" by Charleen Humphrey.

The winner of the "Seniors' Choice" award voted on by seniors is "Dragonfly" by Sandra Day. All first-place winners and the "Senior's Choice" winner received trophies.

The judges were Cary Shapiro of Cary Shapiro Photography, Gary Bennett of Gary Bennett Photography and Peter Lars of Cornerstone Photography.
