Police arrest man for assault

Fernando Pimental Ceja, 29, of Oxnard, was arrested for allegedly making terrorist threats against family members who live in Moorpark.

According to authorities, the man assaulted his wife and endangered his two children during the incident, which occurred on Monday.

Moorpark police received a report that a child was screaming for help in front of the Kohl's department store at the Moorpark Marketplace. When they arrived at the scene, deputies saw a man driving away with three passengers. Police attempted to stop the vehicle to investigate the call, but the suspect fled toward Somis.

The driver briefly stopped on Los Angeles Avenue, west of Somis Road, to drop off his two children, ages 8 and 1, at the side of the road. He then continued to flee westbound until he stopped again in the 6900 block of Bradley Road in Somis where he began to assault his wife.

Deputies had to use a Taser gun and physical force to subdue the suspect. No one was injured during the incident.

Pimental Ceja was booked at the Ventura County Jail with a $100,000 bail. The suspect was also in possession of cocaine.
