Fire could have been avoided

I just returned home from several days away and found out that there was a fire at 14760 Hartford St. in Campus Park this morning.

I don't know much about how the fire took place; however, I do know that the Campus Park citizens sent a petition to the city on Feb. 7, 2007, complaining about the house being overgrown and debris in all vehicles parked at the address, as well as rats being seen coming from the house.

I know that I called in and reported this place on two other occasions because homeowners came to me complaining. I went down and talked to the homeowner, and you could not get inside the house or the garage due to materials stacked from floor to ceiling.

I just want to know why or if the city did any thing about the neighbors' concerns. I don't know if you are interested in this or not, but the citizens of Campus Park East could use some help in getting things cleaned up out here. Faye Beaver Moorpark
