War doesn't bring security

Last week I was pleased to see Chris Risley's letter regarding the July 17 Executive Order that is in violation of free speech, due process, and the rights to assembly and petition of grievances as it regards the occupied, puppet regime that used to be Iraq.

This "Order" is more evidence of the despotic insanity of a king, creating and enforcing 'law' that rises above our Constitution; threatening to drown the body politic of our 231 year experiment in a democratic republic. I submit that the Constitution matters.

In addition, I would like to bring to your attention this week's proposal to both give, as military aid- our stolen tax dollars at work- and sell, to questionable "allies" in the war without end, $6,300,000,000 dollars worth of advanced deathinabox to that stable and peaceful region known as the Middle East. Apparently, while knee deep in gasoline, there are not enough matches to go around.

I cynically suggest that this proposal has less to do with containing the latest 'scariest people on earth' and more to do with the propping up of our militarized war economy with another boost to the extremely profitable defense industries. Without this long term economic 'shot in the arm' this extortion racket would have to find real work like the rest of us. It is long past time to nationalize the war industries, to remove and unlink the profit motive from patriotism, and to make the selling of military material to any third party, current friend or current foe alike, a treasonable offense.

We are no longer in a world where you can put the wagons in a circle and get away with exterminating the locals. All the weapons in the world will not bring us the physical or psychological security we desire. It is as though we only have hammers in our toolbox when the world needs a logic probe.

It's time to abolish war. Like slavery it is has long outlived its usefulness.

Adapt or die. Since we are all going to die anyway, perhaps it is time to get on with whatever life we have left. Perhaps we should try something beautiful.

A simple math problem: Assuming that Iraqi war and occupation will only cost us half a billion dollars, how much peace and love could we have bought, or bribed, divided by the estimated population of 26 million people. Since this is a rhetorical question, the answer is nearly $20,000 per person and without a corpse or body bag in sight.

I urge you to be involved. I urge you to be part of the solution.

If you love the concept of America, it is imperative that you contact your Representative and Senators to legally and peacefully remove this man and his enablers from power.
