Moorpark resident stabbed at home

A 21-year-old man was stabbed several times by an unknown assailant at his Millard Street home Saturday night.

The victim, Armando Martinez, told authorities he'd been arguing with the man at a party in Moorpark that evening. The individual showed up at Martinez's home later that night to continue the fight.

As the two men scuffled, the assailant pulled out a knife and stabbed Martinez in the chest several times before he took off on a bicycle, according to police. Martinez also had a cut on his lip, Detective Alan Devers said.

He was taken to Simi Valley Hospital for treatment.

The victim told authorities he didn't know the attacker. Ventura County Crime Stoppers offered up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the attacker. Call (805) 494-TALK (8255).

As of Tuesday morning, the suspect hadn't yet been apprehended, Devers said. Authorities don't believe the incident was gang related.
