College kicks off new year with free football game

The community is invited to Moorpark College for a free Kickoff Party and football game starting at 4 p.m. tomorrow, Sat., Sept. 8, at the college, 7075 Campus Road.

Moorpark College will celebrate its 40th birthday and Griffin Stadium's 22nd anniversary.

The opening ceremony starts at 4:45 p.m., and the game against Saddleback College begins at 5 p.m.

The event will feature history information booths, live jazz music, food and memorabilia for sale, and an opportunity to meet the Seabees of Port Hueneme, the U.S. Naval Construction Battalion that helped build the stadium in 1985.

The new Raider athletic logo mascot will be unveiled and guests may meet two of the Blue Raiders on horseback.

Every guest will be welcomed at the gate at 4 p.m. with a free temporary Raider tattoo and a pack of 40th anniversary Moorpark College mints.
