Fire department names media officer

Bill Nash has joined the Ventura County Fire Department to serve as its public information and marketing officer.

His position supports the efforts of Capt. Barry Parker in working with the media for both emergency and routine public information matters, and he will also support the marketing activities of the department by helping to manage internal and external communications.

Nash, a former firefighter who has lived in the county for more than 20 years, has spent the last nine years working in public relations, advertising and marketing for Seminis Vegetable Seeds, a division of the Monsanto Company in Oxnard.

Nash will be based at the department's headquarters in Camarillo.
