Fundraiser for disabled kids

The Amanda Vorhies Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps local families that have children with disabilities, will host a fundraising event, a golf tournament on Sept. 25 at the Moorpark Country Club, 11800 Championship Drive.

Proceeds will benefit families with the cost of medical treatment, education and research.

The golf tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Entries include golf cart, range balls, games, lunch, dinner, auction and raffle.

Donations of raffle and auction items are requested, as well as tournament sponsors.

The foundation was created by a family with a daughter disabled with cerebral palsy. The organization is raising money to build a backyard playground for a Simi Valley girl diagnosed with many different challenges.
