High school resource officer keeps students on the right path

      Deputy Leonard Lopez spends his entire day on campus at Moorpark High School working with students, teachers and school administrators to ensure that the campus is safe. He also strives to be a role model for young people.

Athlete paddleboards down entire California coastline
      On Sat., Oct. 20, extreme endurance athlete and environmentalist Tom Jones will enter the final phase of a three-month-long expedition to paddleboard the length of the entire California coastline. He is attempting to be the first person to travel the 1,250 miles on a 14-foot paddleboard.

Science night and silent auction at Walnut Canyon Elementary School planned
      Walnut Canyon School PTA will present its annual science night and silent auction "Astronomical Journeys" from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wed., Oct. 17 at 280 Casey Road, Moorpark. There will be telescopes set up at the back of the school for viewing Jupiter.

Concert presented at CLU honors U2
      U2charist featuring The Joshua Tree (a U2 tribute) will take place at 7 p.m. tomorrow Sat., Oct. 13, in Samuelson Chapel at California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. Cost is $5 at the door. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
