Alzheimer's researcher to speak

Author and medicinal chemist Gilbert M. Rishton will give a presentation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mon., Oct. 22 at Silverado Senior Living, 25100 Calabasas Road, Calabasas.

Registration is scheduled for 6 p.m. and hors d'oeuvres will be served at that time.

Rishton will discuss neurodegeneration leading to the progression of Alzheimer's disease and updates in research for Alzheimer's disease drug discovery.

Formerly with Amgen, Rishton is the founder and director of the Channel Islands Alzheimer's Institute, located on the Camarillo campus of Cal State Channel Islands.

The presentation is free to the public and families interested in learning more about Alzheimer's disease. Two free contact hours of continuing education units are available for RNs, LVNs and CHHAs.
