Sheriff's Blotter A bicycle was stolen on Oct. 21 from a porch in the 600 block of Spring Road. An attempted murder took place on Oct. 19, when a man living in the 60 block of Majestic Court answered a knock at his front door to find a man shooting at him. The victim was not injured in the attack. On Sept. 29 a woman living in the 300 block of Esther Avenue was struck by a pellet from a pellet gun, causing her injury. The incident wasn't reported until Oct. 19. Sometime between Oct. 18 and 19, the windows of locked cars parked in the 4700 block of Moorpark Avenue were smashed and property was stolen from the cars. On Oct. 19 vandals spraypainted blue graffiti in the back of the Longs drug store in the 100 block of Los Angeles Avenue. On Oct. 18 a private home in the 4700 block of Talmadge Road was broken into and burglarized. Someone smashed the driver's side window of a car parked in the 600 block of Spring Road on Oct. 18. A car stereo and iPod were stolen. Felony vandalism took place sometime between Oct. 16 and 17 when vandals threw large chunks of asphalt through the front and side windows of an excavator parked at a construction site. On Oct. 17 vandals spraypainted gang graffiti on a cinderblock wall in the 200 block of Roberts Street. A car parked in the 15400 block of Brawn Court was burglarized sometime between Oct. 6 and 15. On Oct. 16 the south side carports of the Moorpark Pine Apartments in the 600 block of Los Angeles Avenue were spray-painted with graffiti. Between July 5, 2004 and June 30, 2007, an employee of a veterinarian practicing in the 400 block of Los Angeles Avenue allegedly committed theft by submitting false vacation hours for hours not worked, used the company credit card for personal gain and stole cash from bank deposits. Sometime between Oct. 12 and 15 vandals spray-painted graffiti in the 12700 block of Tierra Rejada Road, causing property damage exceeding $400. Someone removed mail from a business' mailbox in the 6500 block of Collins Drive on Oct. 10. A man riding his bicycle at night without a headlight was stopped and found in possession of both marijuana and cocaine. He was taken into custody. On Oct. 19, officers responded to a Moorpark College call regarding a female found taped up in the bushes with a bag over her head. The woman said she was attacked by unknown subjects while walking to her car, but later confessed she had lied about being attacked and had fabricated the entire incident. The subject of a probation search in the 700 block of Diablo Avenue on Oct. 17 admitted to recent methamphetamine use and was arrested. |
