Fortnightlys examine important topic
      The Moorpark Women's Fortnightly Club, which has been doing community service work in Moorpark for 102 years, will look at the topic of domestic violence at its monthly luncheon meeting at 10 a.m. Fri., Nov. 9 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 13955 Peach Hill Road.

Advisory group wants applicants
Input needed for active adult programming
      The Moorpark City Council is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Active Adult Center Advisory Committee. The appointment is to complete the current term to expire December 2008. Each applicant must be age 60 or over, a resident of Moorpark and a registered voter.

      You get back that hour of sleep you lost in March this weekend. At 2 a.m. Sun., Nov. 4, clocks should be turned back one hour. Daylight saving time began the second Sunday in March and ends on Sunday when we return to standard time.

Officers shine in police sports
Four local contestants bring home awards
      Moorpark CHP Officers Steve Marchant, Laura Ray, Chris Throgmorton and Michael Throgmorton participated in the 2007 Western States Police and Fire Games held last month in Mesa, Ariz. The officers won a total of 16 medals: six gold, seven silver and three bronze.

Veterans Day services set
      Veterans Day observances will be on Sun., Nov. 11 in Moorpark. The public is invited at no charge. Flags will be retired and replaced with new flags at 8 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial, Moorpark and Los Angeles avenues.
