Officers shine in police sports
Four local contestants bring home awards

Moorpark CHP Officers Steve Marchant, Laura Ray, Chris Throgmorton and Michael Throgmorton participated in the 2007 Western States Police and Fire Games held last month in Mesa, Ariz.
The officers won a total of 16 medals: six gold, seven silver and three bronze.
Marchant competed in the 45 to 49yearold age group, bringing home gold in the pentathlon and the long jump. He received silver in the triple jump, 4x100 relay and shot put. He won bronze in the javelin and discus.
Ray competed in the 35 to 39yearold age group, winning silver in the triathlon.
Chris Throgmorton competed in the 18 to 29-year-old age group and struck gold in the long jump and the pentathlon. He brought home silver in the 4x100 relay and the javelin, as well as bronze in the discus.
Michael Throgmorton competed in the 18 to 29-year-old age group. He won gold in the javelin and discus, and silver in the shot put.
The games are the third largest amateur sports event in the world.
