High Street Theater Foundation honors drama teacher

Steve Robertson, Moorpark High School drama instructor and theatrical director, will be honored with the Champion of the Arts award by the High Street Theater Foundation at a brunch at 10 a.m. Sun,, Nov. 18 at Cafe Firenze in Moorpark.

Tickets for the event are $30. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Steve Robertson Youth Theater Workshop.

For 41 years Robertson has given leadership and guidance to youth in Moorpark through the performing arts. Robertson was the director at the Magnificent Moorpark Melodrama for 11 years.

He has served as master of ceremonies for the Miss Moorpark Pageant since 1967 and the Miss Ventura County Pageant since 1997.

Since the beginning of Moorpark County Days, Robertson has been the parade announcer and Main Stage entertainment coordinator, and he also serves as stadium football announcer for Moorpark High School.

To further honor Robertson, the foundation has named its youth workshop The Steve Robertson Youth Theater Workshop.

The foundation's goal is to support the performing arts in Moorpark, including sponsoring any member of the Moorpark Boys & Girls Club that would like to participate in the youth theater workshop.
