Fundraising run/walk scheduled

The third annual Rabid Dog Run is scheduled for Sun., Nov. 18 at the Tierra Rejada Ranch Walnut Grove, 3370 Sunset Valley Road, Moorpark.

The 5K Run/Walk will start at 9 a.m. and the 1-mile Fun Run will begin at 10 a.m. More than 400 runners and walkers are anticipated.

The top runners will receive prizes. Raffle items and baskets will be auctioned off.

The run is in memory of Deirdre Malafronte, a Moorpark mother who died from cancer on July 3, 2005. She had given countless hours to her church, children's schools and numerous charities.

Registration is $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under.

All proceeds will provide educational scholarships for children who have lost a parent.
