A salute to city employees As the holidays fall upon us, we often look at all of the people we are thankful for. We usually start with those closest to us, family. From there, we branch out to our friends, neighbors and then coworkers. But there are so many others that deserve our thanks, especially for those of us who enjoy the beauty and serenity of Moorpark. The survey that was conducted recently by the city of Moorpark clearly showed that the majority of residents are very pleased and content with the services that we enjoy. The problem is that we often overlook all of those individuals who have made Moorpark what it is today, specifically, the city employees. Without their dedication and hard work, much of what we enjoy would not be a reality. The employees of the city are too vast to list them all. But think, for just a second, what life would be like without the devoted individuals who have assisted with issues such as commercial and residential development, the repaving of streets that were in need of repair, the cleaning and upkeep of the parks and facilities that we use so often, those who answer phones and find us answers, the supervisors who oversee the day-to-day operations, the city manager whose vision has created a nationally identified destination for people to raise their families, and the staff who work with all of our youth sports. The list goes on and on. I am very pleased to be able to have such a wonderful group of employees, many of whom live in Moorpark, take their jobs seriously and truly care about us. Thank you for making Moorpark what it is today. Keep up the good work. Mark Van Dam Moorpark City Council member |
