Moorpark's Teaching Zoo offers special events

America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College will host two events this holiday season. The zoo is on the campus of Moorpark College at 7075 Campus Drive.

•The annual Presents for Primates is Sat. and Sun., Dec. 22 and 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event features holiday games and booths, and an opportunity to make behavior enrichment "presents" for the primates cared for at the zoo.

In conjunction with the event, visitors are asked to bring nonperishable food and gently used blankets and clothing to benefit a local homeless shelter. Those who bring a donation will receive a free booth ticket.

Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for children and seniors.

•The Junior Safari Winter Day Camp is registering children ages 6 to 11. The camp runs Dec. 31 through Jan. 4 and the theme is "Around the World in Five Days."

The camp fee is $275 for full day and $145 for half day.
