      Reading the letter to the editor from Darby Shields, president of the High Street Theatre Foundation, reminded me of listening to a child who has told a fanciful story so many times that they actually begin to believe it.

      Yes, Mr. Mayor, the city needs to continue funding the High Street Arts Center. The City Council has taken a leadership role in establishing support for this unique and historic theater that is both a town centerpiece and a significant engine for cultural enrichment.

      We are young performers at High Street Arts Center and we believe that the City Council should keep the theater. It is very old and is an important part of Moorpark's history. It also helps children expand their theater knowledge and careers.
