Authorities arrested two teenagers for allegedly setting a portable bathroom on fire near the intersection of East Amherst and Westwood streets in Moorpark on Tuesday evening.

The Moorpark boys, ages 14 and 15, were released to their parents. The district attorney will handle the case, Moorpark Police Capt. Tim Hagel said.

"Arson is a serious incident because when someone starts at such a young age we have concern they are interested in this type of act," Hagel said.

The district attorney coordinates with both the probation department and the court system and tries to work out penalties for the guilty parties that can include fines, community service and counseling.

Incarceration would be a last choice for the suspects in the Westwood arson case because of their age, Hagel said.
