Lions Club provides funds for Academic Decathletes

The Simi-Moorpark Lions Club recently donated $500 to the Moorpark High School Academic Decathlon Team to help with expenses as the team travels to the upcoming U.S. Championship Tournament.

Lion Club President Kathy Strange presented the check to team adviser, Larry Jones, at the school on Thursday night. Lion Club members Merleen Smith, Elvie Marfil and Dave Wheeler also attended.

Mikaela Morton, president of the newly formed Simi Valley Leo Club, and seven other Leo officers and members were also present.

The donation came from proceeds from the Simi-Moorpark Lions Club 80th anniversary celebration and Simi Valley Leo Club Charter Night.
