Students to harmonize for barbershop competition

Oak Park High School will hold the second annual Barbershop Mania from 7 to 9 p.m. Thurs., April 24 at the Oak Park High School Pavilion, 899 N. Kanan Road.

Twelve Oak Park High choir barbershop groups will compete. The groups are:

The Barbettes - Kerry Anderson, Sarah Cofiell, Megan Cofiell, Kelsey Karl; performing "The Beauty Shop Quartet"

Broadway Babes - Claire Adams, McKenna Davenport, Jenna Hamilton, Callan Hughes, Melissa Tabone; performing "Lullaby of Broadway"

The Cry Babies - Ashley Couture, Rebecca Fondiler, Kelli Kay, Kristy Kay; performing "It's My Party"

Enchanted - Alexandra Corley, Francesca Corley, Katie Massey, Erin Walker; performing "Beauty and the Beast"

The Friends - Rachel Hines, Wendy Li, Traci Ream, Shelby Rifkin, Maggie Wilson; performing "With a Little Help From My Friends"

The Leaning Post - Breanne Eilerman, Laura Miller, Stephanie Soultanian, Tallie Bornstein; performing "Lean On Me"

The Outsiders - Lindsay Amos, Amber Janke, Kelly Russell, Kaylyn Schmidt, Chanel Weiser; performing "Always Be My Baby"

Perfection - Jared Brown, Noah Malick, Jonathan Potter, Michael Potter, Prajit Ramaprasad; performing "Under the Boardwalk"

Rogers Rascals - Cory Aitchison, Jared Brown, Nick Bral, James Tedjasapultra; performing "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"

Sassy Diva Queens - Emily Glickman, Sarah Baron, Gretchen Waldron, Julie Rothman; performing "Ain't No Mountain High"

The Shady Bunch - Halleh Hashtpari, Iris Hsu, Brittany Kidd, Inga McManus, Laura Miller; performing "Rockin' Robin"

Under the Street Lamp - Scott Compton, Jared Brown, Chris Karl, Andrew Karl, Michael Potter; performing "For the Longest Time"

The groups are competing for a judges' prize of $100 and a spot to perform at the Dick Van Dyke Benefit Concert on May 4 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. There is also a people's choice award of $100.

The judges for the contest will be Hi Fidelity, who will also perform.

The event includes ice cream waffle cones for refreshments.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
