Club names winners of annual youth art contest Moorpark Women's Fortnightly Club has announced the winners of the annual Student Art Fair held at the Peach Hill Academy in March. The fair was open to students in grades K through 12 from all Moorpark public schools. Participants' artwork was presented in all mediums, including construction paper collages, watercolors, oils, and chalk renderings. The winners are as follows: Flory Academy: Natalia Marin, Gulliana Carranza, Sierra Reid, Shane Peterson and Kendala Mendez. Arroyo West Elementary School: Destiny Pope, Michelle Cesareo, Sherry Mou. Peach Hill Academy: Hunter Maier, Nicole Chesnut, Aaron Pena, Kajol Jewan, Natalie Greco, and Aya Karam. Walnut Canyon Elementary School: Tessa Wilford, Taylor Sunter, Maddie Charles, Alex Palmer, Anthony Aguirre and Bridget Lieberson. Campus Canyon Elementary School: Michelle Le, Vardhan Raum, Daniella Abernathy, Andrea Carrion, Darion Riiz and Amy Pai. Mountain Meadows Elementary School: Noble Rich. Chaparral Middle School: Chelsea Meinz and Bianca Esquivel. Community High School: Heriberto Morales and Naomi Rudolics. First, second and thirdplace ribbons were awarded. Heriberto Morales won best-in-show. Arroyo West and Walnut Canyon won monetary scholarships to use towards their art programs. All artwork by the first-place winners was recently displayed at the Tierra Adorada District Federation of Women's Clubs regional Fine Art Show in Goleta. Judges for the Moorpark fair are Carolyn Finley, Betty Hackman, Iris Karignan, Jean Amador and Theresa Nelesen. |
