Ojai animal shelter presents open house

The Humane Society of Ventura Shelter Clinic in Ojai will have low cost vaccinations for pets available during its Open House tomorrow, Sat. May 3 at 402 Bryant St., Ojai.

Dr. Lewis will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to treat pets requiring new or updated vaccinations.

The Open House will kick off "Be Kind to Animals Week" May 4 through 10. The public may tour the shelter on Saturday and participate in the following educational activities.

10 a.m., 3 p.m.: Ojai Raptor Center presentation with live eagle.

11 a.m.: Children's Storytime.

11:30 a.m.: Kids, Critters and Safety with hands-on practice for children.

Hourly tours of the shelter will run from 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. The Shelter's Humane Officer, Humane Educator and Volunteer Coordinator will be on hand all day to answer questions about animal care, diet and how to become a pet walker or volunteer to help at the shelter.

Refreshments will be served and people are encouraged to bring a blanket or towel to sit on during the presentations.
