New faces to lead schools
The Board of Education of the Moorpark Unified School District unanimously accepted the superintendent's recommendation to appoint three new elementary principals to replace Del Carbine at Mountain Meadows, Pam Hill at Flory and Jeanne Ricci at Walnut Canyon, who are retiring in June.

Linda Bowe will be the principal at Walnut Canyon School after serving 13 years as principal of Campus Canyon School. Under her leadership, Campus Canyon was named a California Distinguished School and twice won the Title I Academic Achievement Award.

Stephanie Brazell will replace Bowe as principal at Campus Canyon School. Brazell has a wide range of educational experience including classroom teacher, teacher mentor and program coordinator.

Since coming to Moorpark Unified School District three years ago, Brazell has worked as program coordinator at Flory and Mountain Meadows. She is the current program coordinator at Walnut Canyon, where she coordinates staff development and magnet school programs.

Christine Kelley has been assigned to Mountain Meadows School. During Kelley's 20 years with the district, she has been a teacher at Flory and Campus Canyon and program coordinator at Campus Canyon.

She has also served as the District GATE Coordinator and founding leader for almost two decades for which she has received state and local recognition.

Mike Winters will be the principal at Flory Academy of Science and Technology. Winters attended Flory as an elementary student and began his educational career there in the preschool program. He has taught social science and technology at Mesa Verde Middle School.

Four years ago, Winters became an assistant principal in the Pleasant Valley School District and has served as an elementary principal for the past two years.
