Families can look for arrowheads on hike

The city of Moorpark Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department will offer its popular "family arrowhead hike" from 11:30 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Sun., May 18 along the Seranata Trail in Moorpark.

Hikers should meet at 11:15 a.m. at the Miller Park picnic pavilion, 4530 Miller Parkway.

Participants will learn about the Native Americans that lived in this area and have the opportunity to search for arrowheads.

The hike is open to all ages and families are encouraged to attend.

All children under age 12 attending the hike are guaranteed to "find" a genuine arrowhead that they can keep and take home. The recreation leader on the hike will also help children make a necklace using their arrowhead.

The hike is free but registration is required by calling the department at (805) 517-6300.
