Married doctors open practice in family care

A husband and wife medical team recently opened a family practice in Moorpark to serve the needs of local residents.

Jonathan and Amanda Rosaasen, 2002 graduates of Loma Linda University School of Medicine, decided to open Moorpark Family Practice Inc. to share patient care and parenting duties.

Practicing together will allow one member of the Simi Valley team to care for their young son, Ryan, while the other is at work caring for patients in Moorpark.

"We've always worked very well together, so we're trying to make a situation where patients get very good care and at the same time we're able to have time for our home life," said Amanda, who grew up in Newbury Park.

The Rosaasens were recruited by Simi Valley Hospital to fill a need for more doctors in Moorpark, said Jeremy Brewer, hospital spokesperson.

"They have excellent credentials and we thought they would be a good fit to serve the healthcare needs of those living here," he said.

"We're brand new to private practice, so it was a huge learning curve and they (the hospital) helped to get us started on the road," Amanda said.

"We believe strongly in health maintenance, disease prevention, patient involvement in medical decision making and open, honest communication between physician and patient to maximize patient health," she said.

The Rosaasens have opened an interim office at 301 Science Drive and plan to relocate to a new medical building on Peach Hill Road next spring.

"We want to expand services to offer urgent care and work closely with other doctors who will provide specialized care at that location," Jonathan said.

The two doctors emphasize preventive care to keep people healthy before they need treatment and medicine. With sick individuals, the goal is to get them healthy and then improve their quality of life.

The family practice facility offers primary care for patients of all ages. The clinic takes most insurance plans, accepts selfpay individuals and is available for well visits and checkups, sick visits, sports physicals and continuity care.
