Free carotid artery testing offered

Ventura County residents age 60 and up may receive free carotid artery testing on Fri., Aug. 1 and 29 by appointment only at the Moorpark Active Adult Center, 799 Moorpark Ave.

Carotid artery screenings to assess artery blockage provide older adults with the opportunity to prevent a life-threatening or disabling stroke. The leading cause of disability among adults in the US, stroke will affect four out of five families over the course of a lifetime.

To qualify, individuals must meet the following household income limit criteria: one person, $48,000; two persons, $54,850; three persons, $61,700; four persons, $68,550; and five persons, $74,050.

This free service is made possible by a grant from Livingston Memorial Foundation.
