Active Adult Programs

The Moorpark Active Adult Center presents the following activities for seniors this month.

Events require a reservation and will meet at 799 Moorpark Ave. unless otherwise noted. Programs are free unless a donation is requested.

•Livingston Memorial Visiting Nursing Association will provide flu shots at the center on Wed., Oct. 8. The shots are for adults age 65 and up and for those younger with a chronic condition that necessitates a flu shot. Shots will also be available to immediate family members of those at risk who are over age 13.

Shots are $25 for those under age 65. Seniors should call the center about the cost for the shot under their insurance plan. Flu shots will be available only by appointment.

• Roberta Andrino will teach a free 8-week class on watercolor painting from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, starting Oct. 14. Class is open to all levels.

Students will learn how to mix and blend colors, control the medium, render objects, critique art work, develop an art vocabulary, enhance artistic vision and work with collage and other forms of artistic expression. Students may also work in acrylics or oils.

• Seniors will compete against teens at the city of Moorpark's inaugural Wi i Bowling Tournament at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center, 4550 Tierra Rejada Road, Moorpark.

Open practice will run through Oct. 17. Tournament play will begin the week of Oct. 20. Champions will receive individual awards and have a chance to play for a team trophy.
