Block grant money available for community projects

The city of Moorpark is accepting applications for the fiscal year 200910 Community Development Block Grant.

The city anticipates receiving approximately $189,000 through the Ventura County's Urban County Entitlement Program.

Grant recipients must meet these objectives:

•Benefit low and moderateincome people.

•Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight.

•Meet other community development needs having particular urgency as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Applicant activities must fall into at least one of these categories: housing development and rehabilitation activities, construction or improvement of public facilities, economic development activities, and public service.

Applications for the program must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Mon., Jan. 5 to City Hall, 799 Moorpark Ave. An electronic application form is available at www.ci.moorpark.ca.us.
